Taca lì is a modular system for temporary installations from recycled plastic for exhibitions, shows, festivals, open-air events on beaches, in parks or squares.
The joints
Two recycled HDPE joint make it possible to connect reused electrical PVC pipes in order to build tables, shelves, trash bins, partition walls, huge and lightweight installations. Six joints and twelve pipes create an octahedron, a solid offering excellent compressive strength. A hole through the joints makes it possible to fasten flat surfaces or information panels with reusable cable ties. The triangular or trapezoidal surfaces are made cutting old forex sheets or other scrap materials. By changing the length of the pipes it is also possible to change the size of the basic module. Combining the two joints bolted together through the holes, it is possible to obtain a super joint which can reduce the pipe number so as to create huge, elaborate and lightweight installations.
Taca lì provides a reuse of recycled HDPE for the production of joints. It also makes it possible to reusel arge quantities of PVC pipes available after refurbishments or demolitions, which are only minimally recycled. PVC pipes are easily found. Besides, they have standard sizes. A three-metre PVC pipe provides four 75-centimetre segments usable to form octahedra.
The production with Precious Plastic machines
ilVespaio can self-produce recycled HDPE joints thanks to a shredder and an injection machine built according to the opensource projects of “Precious Plastic”. ilVespaio passed one year to do digital simulations and tests with 3d printed resin moulds made in collaboration with The FabLab. Afterwards, ilVespaio has produced in CNC cut aluminium the final mould to start the production in recycled Hdpe thanks to Precious Plastic machines.
